YeneHealth - A Digital Health Platform for African Women
- YeneHealth is a special app created to help women in Africa manage their reproductive health. The idea came from Kidist Tesfaye, an entrepreneur from Ethiopia. She saw how many women lacked easy access to important health information, especially about family planning and menstrual health. Many women didn’t have private, reliable resources to help them manage these aspects of their health.
- Kidist wanted to solve this problem. She wanted to build an app that would give women all the health information they need in a safe, private way. This idea led to the birth of YeneHealth.
The Challenges
When building the YeneHealth app, there were several challenges to overcome.
Cultural Sensitivity
Talking about women’s health, especially reproductive health, is still considered taboo in many parts of Africa. People feel embarrassed or afraid to talk openly about issues like menstruation or contraception.
Keeping Health Data Safe
Because women’s health information is private, it’s important to keep this data safe from hackers or unauthorized people.
Limited Access to Technology
The app was designed to use less data and work well on cheaper smartphones. This means that women in rural areas or those with limited access to technology can still use it.
Reliable Health Information
Many women don’t know where to find accurate information about their health, especially when it comes to family planning or menstrual health.
What did Alpha Designs do to solve these challenges.
- To solve these problems, our team worked closely with Kidist. We made sure the app would be easy to use, safe, and helpful for women. Our team of developers, designers, and healthcare experts came together to build a solution that worked for everyone.
- We used our knowledge of technology and the needs of women in Africa to create an app that was simple but powerful. We also used AI (artificial intelligence) and data analysis to help make the app more personalized for each user.
